The YWCA Children and Youth Development and Education Center, located in Homewood-Brushton, provides quality, comprehensive early development and education and out-of-school time programming for children six weeks to twelve years of age. Our child-focused, individualized education, and low staff-student ratios successfully encourage learning, school-readiness, and extra-learning opportunities in a safe and nurturing environment. We accept these funding sources: Private Pay Parents, Child Care Partnerships and CCIS, County Assistance Office, Children Youth and Families, and United Way.
School-age and Out of School-Time Programs (for ages 5 to 12)
Our School-age program has 5 programs. Each program and times are listed below. We serve children five to twelve years of age. Enhancing the in-school programming, our child-centered, literacy-focused program provides extra-learning opportunities and academic enrichment. Our affective program encourages and builds character, skills, and enhances self-esteem. Before and after school transportation is available to local schools.
Before-School Program
Our program provides services for five to twelve year-old school-age children, who attend local public, private, charter, and parochial schools. We provide transportation to many local schools. Breakfast is served daily.
After-School Program
After each school day, our practitioners provide educational and recreational programming for five to twelve year-old school-age children. These extra learning opportunities often include our community partners, such as the Carnegie Science Center, Frick Arts Museum and Highmark SPARK Program. Nutritious meals are prepared on-site.
Extended Day Program
On Pittsburgh Public Schools vacation and in-service days, the YWCA provides extra learning educational and recreational opportunities for five to twelve year old school-age children. This full-day program includes meals, programs, activities and much more.
