ENCOREplus Breast Health Program

The mission of the ENCOREplus Program is to address and reduce the unequal burden of cancer among racial and ethnic minorities and the medically underserved women in the greater Pittsburgh area.  ENCOREplus is a community-based outreach program that provides education, screening, and support services.

ENCOREplus was created by the YWCA USA to reach out to all women who face obstacles to getting high-quality, affordable breast and cervical exams.  ENCOREPLUS is run by women for women, enriched by the YWCA’s long tradition of supporting women in every aspect of their lives.

ENCOREplus offers:

  • Breast health education workshops in your home, organization or women’s group
  • Free support groups for survivors of breast cancer
  • Referrals for free or low-cost clinical breast exams, mammograms and pap tests
  • Guest speakers at group functions
  • One-on-one outreach in community centers or areas typically serving low-income women
  • Events such as the annual Pink Ribbon Luncheon

Five Ways ENCOREplus Can Help You…

  1. We can arrange a mammogram even if you have no insurance or your insurance doesn’t pay for it.
  2. We will help you set up an appointment and help you get there.
  3. We will go with you, help you ask the right questions, and follow up with you.
  4. We will contact you each year to remind you to get your annual mammogram and clinical breast exam.
  5. We will talk to your community group about the three steps to self defense against breast cancer.
