The YWCA has a long, proud history of housing advocacy for women and people of color. In January 1999, the YWCA Greater Pittsburgh formed YW Homes, Inc., a non-profit subsidiary corporation with the purpose of creating affordable housing choices for low-income, single-parent families in those communities that currently do not provide such options.   YW Homes consists of ten single-family homes that are located in first tier suburban communities.
