Resource Center Director

The YWCA Resource Center Program Director is responsible for the overall management and operation of the YWCA Resource Center (RC) department and oversight of department assets while ensuring compliance with applicable grantor, federal and state requirements. The RC operates various programs including, but not limited to, housing and supportive services for persons experiencing homelessness, health education, grant distribution, public benefits enrollment, and resource and referral. Additionally, the RC Director oversees ten (10) single family homes owned by YW Homes.



A Bachelor’s Degree in social work, women’s studies, or related field, is required. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in non-profit management is required.  A Master’s Degree in social work, women’s studies or related field with minimum of three (3) years of experience and at least two (2) years at the supervisory or management level is preferred.  The incumbent must bring to this position a background in administration and supervision in a human services environment.  Experience and knowledge of grant writing, planning, budgeting and monitoring expenditures and reviewing fiscal statements are also required.  



Must be knowledgeable of current social, economic, and health trends and services, and possess the ability to adapt trends to practical program applications that link clients with services needed.  The successful candidate must have knowledge of racial, ethnic, and cultural groups in society; community, state and national health and welfare resources.  The ideal candidate must have an understanding of the Affordable Care Act, knowledge of housing support program and operations, program development, grant oversight and the ability to develop cooperative and satisfactory contacts with social service agencies, community organizations, and other administrative officials.   The Director of YWCA Greater Pittsburgh’s Resource Center (RC) must have an understanding of the structure of the Association, as well as, the relationship of RC initiatives to the overall mission of the organization. The ideal candidate is a skilled collaborator with a passion for supporting others to reach self-sufficiency.



  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the YWCA Resource Center.
  • Supervises all staff and contract personnel in accordance with the Association Personnel Policies.
  • Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates RC staff, interns and volunteers.
  • Implements management systems to ensure effective and efficient operations and accountability.
  • Ensures compliance with all grants, local, state and federal funding and reporting requirements.
  • Develops department budget in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer and the Senior Director of Finance.
  • Oversees the smooth and effective operation of program procedures and institutes adjustments, as needed.
  • Monitors established program goals and outcomes; make adjustments, as needed.
  • Provides ongoing assessment of current and prospective programming needs and opportunities.
  • Oversees and manages department expenditures including, monitoring monthly budgets and financial statements in order to ensure adequate financial support for program operations.
  • Investigates and cultivates additional funding sources, as required.
  • Provides an environment for staff that is conducive to teamwork, collaboration, empowerment and consensus decision-making in a multicultural setting.
  • Promotes understanding, awareness, and empowerments staff and participants.
  • Maintains comprehensive and current knowledge of community, local, state and national resources.
  • Maintains comprehensive and current knowledge of health insurance enrollment through the Affordable Care Act and housing programs to support persons experiencing homelessness.
  • Oversees the collection and maintenance of information for monthly, quarterly and annual reports to funders and association.
  • Oversees the creation and development of a client database for the purpose of collecting, evaluating, and reporting relevant client information.
  • Maintains good working relationships with and is responsive to funders and other contacts in community organizations and agencies.
  • Serves as the liaison between the YW and colleges and universities interested in placing student interns at the Association, and acts as the students’ main point of contact while interning at YWCA Greater Pittsburgh.
  • Participates in relevant community networking opportunities.
  • Participates in Leadership Council, supervisory conferences, staff development trainings and periodic evaluations.
  • Maintains high levels of consumer satisfaction.
  • Maintains high levels of confidentiality when working with sensitive and personal client, vendor, employee and contract information.
  • Effectively deals with sensitive information and occurrences.
  • Works in conjunction with co-workers and management to achieve Affirmative Action goals.
  • Displays consistent professionalism and courtesy when interacting with internal and external customers.
  • Promotes and supports the mission, imperative, values and goals of the YW while maintaining high performance standards.
  • Participates in YWCA professional development opportunities, successfully implementing new skills, knowledge, and procedures.
  • Performs other such duties assigned within the scope of the Women’s Resource Center Department.


  • Ability to lift, carry and otherwise move up to 15 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, or walk for various lengths of time throughout the day
  • Ability to utilize computer equipment to complete daily work responsibilities
  • Ability to operate fax/copy machines, telephone, calculator and general office equipment on a daily basis
  • Daily work in an office environment and with frequent travel to client sites with exposure to weather conditions
  • Available to work 7 hours per day and/or 35 hours per week or more as necessary to meet Association objectives.
  • Ability to travel for meetings, agency trainings and other miscellaneous work assignments within or outside of Allegheny County.
