YWCA Celebrates Women’s Equality Day

In celebration of Women’s Equality Day on Tuesday, August 26, the YWCA Greater Pittsburgh is hosting a special event from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., at 305 Wood Street, downtown.  The event is free and open to the public.

Women's Equality Day was first established in 1971 to recognize the passage of the 19th Amendment – the Woman Suffrage Amendment – to the U.S. Constitution, which gave U.S. women full voting rights in 1920.

Sponsored by the YWCA's Office of Racial Diversity and Inclusion, the Women's Equality Day event not only observes the passage of the 19th Amendment, but it also calls attention to women's continuing efforts toward full equality.

For more information about the YWCA's Women's Equality Day event, persons may call 412-255-1466.
