Housing Programs

YWCA Bridge Housing Program
Bridge Housing provides transitional housing and support services to homeless women and their children. Families may stay for a maximum of two years.  Support services include case management, life skills education, referrals and assistance with permanent housing placement, referrals to community based health and welfare agencies, assistance and support with vocational and educational goals, an on-site children's learning center and a food pantry.  In addition, Bridge Housing offers follow up services to families moving into permanent housing who request ongoing support and assistance.  The goal of all services is to help families permanently break the cycles of homelessness and poverty, and achieve lasting self-sufficiency.

YWCA W.I.S.H. (Women In Supported Housing) Program
WISH is a permanent, supportive housing program for dually diagnosed women (women who struggle with both drug & alcohol addiction and mental illness), and their children. The program provides housing in leased, scattered site apartments and houses, and intensive support services. The focus is on assisting women with building and maintaining healthy support systems, managing their drug and alcohol and mental health recovery programs, and living independently. The goal is to assist families, particularly those who face the greatest barriers to independence, to achieve and sustain lasting self-sufficiency.

YW Homes, Inc.
The YWCA has a long, proud history of housing advocacy for women and people of color. In January 1999, the YWCA Greater Pittsburgh formed YW Homes, Inc., a non-profit subsidiary corporation with the purpose of creating affordable housing choices for low-income, single-parent families in those communities that currently do not provide such options.  YW Homes consists of ten single-family homes that are fully occupied and located in first tier suburban communities.
