Breast Health Programs

image description

Just over 20 years ago, Congress created the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Detection Program to improve access to timely breast cancer screening and diagnostic services for low-income, uninsured, and underserved women. YWCA's ENCOREplus program began soon after as a grassroots-structured, community-based, country-wide effort encouraging women to take charge of their breast health.

Today, we offer the following bi-lingual (Spanish) programs:

  • Tea and Treats - a fun, interactive, health education Tea Party for you and your friends!  We will come to your home, your church, or your women’s group to facilitate an hour-long discussion about breast health in stress-free, supportive surroundings. Call 412-255-1471 to schedule.
  • Cancer Screening Referrals - referrals, support, and yearly reminders for free or low-cost clinical breast exams, mammograms, pap tests, and HPV vaccines. Call 412-255-1471.
  • Community Health Volunteers – our trained volunteers are out in the community educating and supporting women about breast and cervical health.
