Teen ServicesYW-Teens After-School YW-Teens After School Leadership Clubs are offered in various middle schools in Allegheny County, and meet once a week. YW-Teens offers girls an opportunity to meet new friends, explore career opportunities, develop leadership skills, and have fun! Club groups also incorporate service learning as a means of empowering girls to become stakeholders in their communities. YW-Teens are encouraged to use their voices individually and collectively to effect positive change for all girls. Arts and crafts, field trips, and special events are also included in YW-Teens.
Other after-school programming Are you looking for a safe space after school? We provide fun and educational after-school programming at our Homewood-Brushton Community Center. Each day is different, from creative activities with the Frick Arts Center, sweating with hip-hp aerobics, to SAT prep classes. Girls are also provided with a snack and homework assistance. The program is free to all students grades 6 - 8 with a YWCA youth membership. Registration is required. Contact Teen Services for more information.
FLAME One-to-One Mentoring Program Would you like to spend time with a caring adult who shares an interest in science, technology, or math? Or, are you an adult woman looking to answer a teen's questions about career plans, school, or life in general?
FLAME is a one-to-one mentoring program that matches caring adult mentors with teen girls. If you are interested in becoming a mentor or being matched with one, contact us for more information.

TechGYRLS Plus TechGYRLS is a fascinating exploration of Lego® Robotics and computer animation. Girls construct and program robot models made of Legos® that are similar to those used by NASA and the military! Those in the advanced session will compete against both local and regional teams. Girls will also have the opportunity to meet professional women in science and technology careers, visit jobsites and go on other scientific exploration field trips, including the Carnegie Science Center.
Media Tech Media Tech is an opportunity for girls to obtain hands-on experience with media technology - from filming videos to editing footage using digital equipment. Partnerships with local media organizations allow girls to utilize the latest technology. Each session focuses on a different area of media, with professional journalists and producers conducting portions of the sessions. Field trips to local radio and television stations, guest speakers, and a final project are included.
