Week Without Violence

The Week Without Violence, a YWCA USA signature initiative, mobilizes communities around a shared vision of peace, respect, and safety. Since it's 1995 launch, Week Without Violence has grown from a grassroots movement to a global initiative with events in fifty states and twenty countries. Each October, YWCA Greater Pittsburgh joins this global campaign by sponsoring local events that provide a forum for education, support, and solution-oriented dialogue.

We all want to live in communities where our children and families are safe and secure. Unfortunately, violence is sometimes a reality, and its effects disproportionately impact individuals marginalized by their gender, race, socio-economic status, and sexual orientation. This year, YWCA Greater Pittsburgh’s Week Without Violence will bring attention to violence affecting women and girls, the LGBTQ community, people of color, and our youth.
