Health Care programs and information for women and their families related to prevention and treatment of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and health conditions related to the aging process. Major health issues for women of all ages in the greater Pittsburgh area include:

  • Today diabetes is the fastest growing health issue for all Americans. Not only is the disease growing at an astounding rate causing blindness, amputations, and other significant health conditions.  Diabetes is also directly linked to other health concerns such as heart attack and stroke, the number one killer of women. Obesity is an epidemic directly linked to diabetes.
  • Diseases of the aging population including arthritis, mental deterioration, incontinence, and osteoporosis are particularly difficult for elderly Pittsburgh women who are most often single and isolated.
  • Cancer for women remains a major health threat. Breast cancer detection and treatment, cervical cancer, and other fast growing cancers threaten the general population especially those who smoke.
  • Other diseases and conditions such as HIV Aids and other sexually transmitted diseases continue to cut women's lives short.
