LaunchPad
LaunchPad bridges the opportunity gap that can discourage economically disadvantaged and marginalized high school girls from pursuing STEM (“Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics”) educations and careers. A workforce development initiative, LaunchPad provides weekly out-of-school time sessions in which girls participate in STEM enrichment activities; explore post-secondary education and careers; and learn skills such as goal-setting, decision-making, and financial literacy.
In addition to weekly sessions, students are invited to participate in Saturday sessions once per month where they visit local college campuses while engaging in STEM, college & career, and life skill workshops. YWCA also offers certification in a STEM area, providing girls with tangible resume development.
