LaunchPad

LaunchPad bridges the opportunity gap that can discourage economically disadvantaged and marginalized high school girls from pursuing STEM (“Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics”) educations and careers. A workforce development initiative, LaunchPad provides weekly out-of-school time sessions in which girls participate in STEM enrichment activities; explore post-secondary education and careers; and learn skills such as goal-setting, decision-making, and financial literacy.

In addition to weekly sessions, students are invited to participate in Saturday sessions once per month where they visit local college campuses while engaging in STEM, college & career, and life skill workshops. YWCA also offers certification in a STEM area, providing girls with tangible resume development.

In accordance with Governor Wolf’s directive to shelter-in-place through Thursday, April 30th, our Wood Street office, Homewood-Brushton location with childcare services, and Pre-K Counts classroom located at Propel Braddock Hills are currently closed. Parents will be notified once they are able to reopen.  Our staff is working remotely to continue to provide important services to our community.  Please check our website for updates and to sign up to be a friend of the YWCA Greater Pittsburgh.  For a list of local resources, please follow this link.
